Ask The Agile Heretic Almost Anything - Jim Benson (Jim Benson)

Jim Benson returns for his third try at the Agile Stalwart stage. He has run software companies and worked with teams in nearly every vertical. He's watched agile be born, mature, and become what it is today. Jim's practice of agile has always stuck to the central tenets of the manifesto (build better code through self-aware teams that communicate internally and externally). However, his observations of how teams work, what companies needs, and how customers have satisfied has made him question the processes and tools of most agile teams. Do we need rigid iterations? Are user stories actually helpful? Do story points do more harm than good? Why is every team confused about what Product Owners and Scrummasters do? What happens in a stand up meeting and why? When was the last time the developers actually talked to a customer? What does backlog mean?
Come, ask me real questions about how your teams or companies operate, about what agile might really mean, about your doubts or frustrations - it's likely that in my 20+ years of "agile" I've seen something that can help.
You will not get textbook answers from me.
